Wheel Width ???

I just bought a set of 33x12.50R17 Mickey Thompson MTX's. I'm also looking at getting new rims because I'm afraid the stock 17x7.5 rims are too narrow for that size tire. Is that really true?

I have friends that work for a speed shop and they tell me that 17x8 is the widest I can go without rubbing. I've heard other people say that a 17x9 would fit.

I really do trust my friends at the speed shop, but I've heard too many conflicting stories...HELP !!!!!

heres the deal. there are people on this website who run 12.50 on stock wheels. you propably not find a and truck shop that will recomend that. 8" wheel would probably be better, tire may wear a little different with 7.5" wheel. it can be done.
