Rim Width ???

I just bought a set of 33x12.50R17 Mickey Thompson MTX's. I'm also looking at getting new rims because I'm afraid the stock 17x7.5 rims are too narrow for that size tire. Is that really true?

I have friends that work for a speed shop and they tell me that 17x8 is the widest I can go without rubbing. I've heard other people say that a 17x9 would fit.

I really do trust me friends at the speed shop, but I've heard too many conflicting stories...HELP !!!!!

33x12.50s I believe, are reccomended to mount on nothing smaller than 8'' on a 17 inch wheel. They will work on a 7.5 but it will be too narrow for that wide of a tire. a 17x9 will work but you will have to trim some of the plastic off of your lower valance It will make your tires look better to. I have 285/70/17s on the mickey thompson classic II wheel which is 17x9 and I had to trim some plastic. 33x12.50 are wider than 285/70/17 but I think that it will work. Best of luck

You can use a rim as wide as 10 inches. If you use a 17x10, you will have to crank up the torsion bars or trim a little plastic off the front bumper's lower plastic valance.
