Question 5 tire rotation

I've always wondered if most owners use a 4 tire rotation or a five. I actually bought an extra stock aluminum wheel for my 02' F150 FX4 and keep it in my 5 wheel tire rotation. Whats the general feeling out there?
1. did I waste $? and 2. will I get any extra mileage/longevity from the tires that came with the truck? I currently have 26K on the tires and they don't look too worn. I rotate evry 6K miles. Talking to friends, I think I'm the only one doing this.

Thumbs up

Sounds like you`ll have your tires a little longer than they will!!
Type of rotation is totally up to you, but IMO you`re better of with a 5 tire rotation than a 4.

Well, it seems like it would be somewhat effective. Just keep in mind you may have to eventually replace that 5th tire. If you plan on running the same tires the next time you put some on your truck, a found it economical to wear the four tires and then at replacement, put your spare on as your fourth tire so you only have to buy 3 tires. Take your best tire from the set you pulled off and put it on your spare rim. That saves you a few bucks considering the cost of tires to fit 17" rims. I guessing that is one of the reasons you are doing the 5 tire rotation is to save money.

Never thought of it that way, your way it's eight tires over two "sets", my way it's ten tires.....where's my calculator?, F' that, I need another Amstel.
Who said rotation is easy, ha ha
