305/70/17 or 285/75/17

Would like to see if anyone has pics of either 285/75/17 or 305/70/17 with a 3" body lift to help aid me in the decision process of new tires. thanks.

This is close. I have a 3 inch body lift and 285/75-16(33x11.50-16) BFG AT KO's on 16x10 Eagle Alloy's. Also, I take it you mean 285/70-17(33x11.50-17) as no one makes a 285/75-17(34x11.50-17). Also, the Goodyear MTR is the only tire I know of that is made in the 305/70-17 (34x12.50).

I'm pretty sure that BFG makes 305/70/17 for the stock size on the H2, I'm not certain though.

BFG makes the AT KO in 315/70-17 which is basically a 35x12.50-17. You are right, it's the OEM tire on the H2.

ok, this is what I want. Like a 33" tire that is only like 110.5" to 11.5 inches wide. The tire has to be a mertic size since I have a 17" wheel. So I ask all of you "what size tire am I looking for"?

hey F150Flare,
According to a coversion chart the 285/70/16= a 31.7" tall tire. Now when you do a 285/70/17= a 32.7 inch tire, so it would actuallt be taller right? Man I am confused who decided to come up with metric measurements. Anyways as I stated above I want a 33" inch tire that is only like 11" inches wide, so help me out here!!!!

285mm divided by 25.4mm/in = 11.2" wide

33"-17" =16" of tire sidewall divided by 2 sidewall heights per rim = 8"

8" / 11.2" = .71 aspect ratio for 33" tires at 11.2" wide.

You want 285/70R17 which gets you 32.7" tall. That's the closest you will find with a metric size.

what about this. if I take a 285/70/17 and mount it on a 8" wide wheel, will that makw the tire stand a little taller. I notices when giving the measurements of the tire it was mounted on a 9" wheel.

Yeah, a 285/70-17 is basically a 33x11.50. That's gonna be the size you want to go with from what you said. The width of the wheel is really not gonna effect the height of the tire enough to be noticable, if at all (maybe 1/16 or an 1/8 inch or so?). The width of the wheel will effect how wide the tire looks.

You can get Parnelli Jones Dirt Grips in 33"x12.5"-17 and Pro Comps also. I am pretty sure that The Good Year MTR 305/70 17 is closer to a 33" than a 34"

I think the difference will be noticable. The 305/70-17's are gonna be about an inch taller and an inch wider than the 285/70-17's.

Wandell, nice Screw! You just have a 3" body with the torsions cranked to level it? I'm looking at a totally different approach...I want to run a 33, which I have been told that I can if I crank the bars. But, I'm sitting about 3" low in the front right now, so I don't think I can get it level with just a torsion adjust (and if I can, it will be wayyyy too stiff). I'm thinking about a 4" lift and just taking a little pre-load out of the bars for a 3" net lift, and just leave the back stock.

Great pics - that is a perfect size tire for 3". Any more lift and I think you would have to go to a 35 to make it look right.
