Question Winter tires

2004 Supercrew XLT 4x4, originally equipped with 255/70R17:

1. can it be mounted with 16" rims? (I think no, but not sure)

2. I only found two winter tires for my truck:

Cooper Discoverer M+S 265-70R17
(same as Dean Wintercat SST 265-70R17)

and

Bridgestone Dueler DMZ3 245-75R17

The Bridgestone is much more $$$, is it worth it?

Or any suggestions on other tires???

Thanks

You have a 2004 4x4? With even the stock all season radials you should not have problem in the winter .... unless you have them bald aready.

The bummer of 17" tires is they cost noticeably more than similar diameter 16" tires.

Question is do you want street 4x4 or a multi use 4x4 with all terrain tires? If you want the latter .... when your stock tire wear out, replace them with a LT285's. JMHO.

you shouldn't have a hard time findin more than just 2 tires for your needs. instead of a winter specific tire only, try looking for an all terrain such as the BFG A/T KO. they are a bit pricey but they have a name you can trust and awesome snow and ice traction. Sears also carries a General A/T very similar to the BFG but not as expensive and it has a 50,000 warranty. it also has holes cut out for metal studs.
