Best commuter/off-road tire combo?

I'll be picking up an 01 F-150 4x2 this week. The tires will need to be replaced in the next few months and I was looking for a recommendation on a good on-road/off-road tire.

Most of my driving will be on pavement to and from work. On the weekends, I will be heading off into the hard packed desert where I'll run into some loose gravel and occassional mud.

Any tire recommendations?

John

Welcome to the site! I would suggest a good all terrian tire. Some of the better choices include the BFG AT KO, Nitto Terra Grappler and Toyo Open Country AT.

BFG AT KOs are probably the most popular.
Bridgestone Dueler REVOs are good.
The Nittos look nice too.

I have been saving for a set of Bridgestone Dueler REVOs A/T 265 R70/17...Told they are quiet and very good on rainey roads...They are said to add a lot to how well the truck handles on the road as well...

has good write ups on what people that use the different tires have to say about them...

Oh yes welcome...have some nanners...

I've got the Nitto Terra Grapplers and love them only put about 1000 miles on them so far but they look brand new and man they are super quiet for an agressive tread pattern. I don't have a 4x4 and this truck is not going to see any really bad offroad conditions so these are fine for me and seemed to be a little bit less expensive than the BFG's plus I have heard the BFG's have a tendacy to be a little louder on the road. Let us know what ya decide on. Good Luck
