Allot of Discussion!!
I know this topic has been beat to death, but I had to bring it up one more time. I went in today and had Toyo 35/1250/18 M/T test fitted on my truck. I know most people say the leveling kit is needed for 33" tires, but I beg to differ. The 33" tires fit as well as the 275 that comes stock on the Lariat. The 35 Toyo's fit even, but with a little rub on the inside back of the fender. It does NOT hit the front bumper. The 2" leveling kit will keep the small current rub from happening. Here is my problem. The Toyo tires & wheels I picked look AWESOME, but is a 35" tire going to kill my truck? I don't know allot about the mechanical aspects of the truck, but I would think BIGGER tires will cause more overall wear & tear. (ball joints, brakes etc etc...) I tried to call Mike Troyer for his opinion, but he wasn't in at the time. I'm expecting to hear back soon. I have the 1714 ordered. I want to get some opinions from you guy/gals. Will I regret going with the 35" Toyo's? I have not seen a better looking truck then what mine looked like with this combinations, but I don't want to be stupid about this. I considered a 33" tire, but the wheel is not available in the size of the tires. I like the look of the Cooper SXT tire, but 17" is as big as they go. Les Schwab is the only ones that I know that sells this tire. I drive my truck daily. It's on the highway 98% of the time. I want the looks, but again, I don't want to be stupid and go over-board. One thing I've consiudered..... if the tires in fact cause problems..... Toyo is coming out with a 33" M/T in November. Please give me your thoughts!! This is it, I will not start another post regarding this subject. Thank you...... One other thing.... has anyone experienced any problems with their warranty when going to a larger tire? I have a 7 year 100,000 warranty and I'd hate to lose that. 0 deductable to boot!! LOL

boy, I'm not sure how you're stuffin' 35s under a stock truck. what is your truck specifics anyway? what is that 2" leveling kit you speak of?
As far as the rest goes, yes, big meats = more weight = more wear and tear. The first thing you will notice, especially going to 35" tires, is your loss in performance. I would highly recomend changing your gears as your first priorty. As far as the dealer is concerned, I have had a few warrantee items fixed with 33" tires on. They never said a word about them.
I would say that if you are really set on runnin' 35s, (which do look great) at the very least, you should consider a body lift. If you run off road, you would be rubbing pretty bad without it, I would suspect.
good luck - post a pic when you put the new boots on!!

Fabtech
Fabtech makes a machined aluminum 2- 2 1/2 front-end leveling kit. I'm as surprised as you on the 35" fitting. If I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't of believed it. They mounted a 35" Toyo M/T on a 18 wheel and it fit. (no leveling kit) It was tight and did rub a little, but I'n sure the Fabtech will do the trick. There are several companies making this kit for the new 04 F-150. They range from 2-2 1/2". If only Toyo made the M/T in 33" I'd be set. This might be an expensive test, but I'm scheduled for installation Thursday afternoon.

Torsion bar....
I have an 04. The 04 does NOT have a torsion bar. The 97 does. I'm not sure how much the torsion bar lifts, but again the 04 does not have one.
Mine is an 04 Lariat Supercrew 4x4.

very nice looking wheels!!
I'm happy with the 33s on my ride. No big desire to go to 35s. I am in the market for new tires though. I have the BFG AT 285/75/R16 on Mickey Thompson forged Challenger wheels now. Let me tell you, polished aluminum is a B*TCH to clean come spring time after the snow and salt! I am thinking about a 305/70/R16 this time on some clear coated wheels.
same diameter as the old tires, just an inch wider.
like I mentioned earlier though, plan on spending some money for a set of new gears to turn those new bad boys!
