Question 18" Lightning rubber sizes, other?

I have a 2001 extracab w/18 wheels and tires. Currently I have Falken ST's on there, but don't like them very much, even less in the rain! So I have several parts to this question.

Lightning rims are/were 18" right? What tire was put on those from Ford? What size? Then the next part of the question... were they alright? What have people put on when the factory rubber has been melted down.

Since I am not racing my truck, I want something that looks nice and provides a good ride quality. Don't even think that I want or need truck tires necessarily.

I'd put BFG T/A's on my Ranger, adn loved them...but I don't think that they are made in an 18" size. Please advise!

Goodyear Eagle F1-GS 295/45ZR-18 unidirectional. Yes, they're well respected for traction and low noise. Many replace with the same, others use Nitto, and a few use Toyo. Mucho discussion in the L area if you need more info.
