finnished brake job
finnished brake job
just did my brakes with rotors( front end)...I replace just the pads last year in a rush during duck hunting season, after the dealer wanted $700...cost me $40.......took 15 minutes......got almost a year out them...
this time I was sensing noises.... and by the time I was going to choose getting some good aftermarket stuff It started grinding big time....soooo, I called and nobody had the high tech rotors instock...and since I have 1/2 days fridays in the summer, I wanted to do the job TODAY...so i went with auto zone rotors and pads....lifetime warranty( not that i care).....the rotors only cost $38 each!!!!!! the set of metalic pads were about the same...I bought brake grease,a guart of good brake fliud, rotors, pads, a jar of anti seeze lubricant,a can of brake cleaner spray, a can of Blaster( pentrating oil)..total $135.........I took me only about 5 minutes of working on the rotors( each) to get them off after I let the blaster set for 2 hours.....spent about a total of about 2 hours max for the job....ran all the old fliud out and put in new...lubes up the rod and the area where the ruct stick the rotor to the hub....spent more time looking for my sockest than doing the job..........now I am good to go for at least another year and will order the good stuff in the leisure......not bad.......will do the rears next week maybe.........bob

It is nice when repairs go according to plan!
I just finished installing new rotor/hubs (2 x 4), bearings, seals, pads and for good luck, new oil!
FOR ONCE ! Every thing went according to plan - no bolts were frozen, I found all the sockets ! etc..
Only glitch was the idiot at the NAPA store who tried to sell me a 4x4 hub in the place of the bearings - "thats the way we sell 'em" was his reply when I showed him the print out from my shop manual CD, clearly indicating what I needed. Luckly, the Ford dealer is around the corner so I got my bearings, etc just fine.
Then a few hours - with a lot of time double checking I wasn't about to F up, since we are leaving on vacation in a few days and I don't want to get stranded, and I was done.
Thanks to all on this forum for all the help you give
