Question Emergency AND ABS Warning Lights On

I've read hours worth of posts on ABS brake light problems. Lots of great info, but...

There were several posts by people who had both the Emergency & ABS lights lit (me too), but I didn't see anyone answer this question:

If the rear ABS speed sensor is the problem, will the Emergency AND ABS brake lights both be lit???

If not, what could the problem be? My brake fluid level is fine and the float is not stuck.

On startup both lights are lit as they should be.
Then the ABS light goes out for 1-2 seconds, while the Emergency brake light stays lit.
Then ABS comes back on and both stay lit.

Thank you for any help.

the red brake light identifies a problem with the base brake system. a wheel speed sensor wont turn on the red brake light.

Red Brake Warning Indicator Always On possable causes:
Instrument cluster.
Circuit. wiring
Parking brake.
Brake fluid level

there are however abs codes that will trip the yellow abs light if it sees something wrong in the red brake light circuit.
C1225/C1226 Faulty Red Brake Warning Indicator
C1265 Shorted Red Brake Warning Indicator Relay

hope this is some help to you.

there is a chance that wiring in the ecu/hcu unit could be causeing this problem. that is the only way the abs system would turn on the red brake light.
