305/70/16 on stock 16x7 wheels
Hey guys I have a 1999 F-150 2WD with a 3.5" lift and I was wondering if anyone is running 305/70/16 tires on their stock 16x7 wheels? I have seen several F-250s run 305/70/16s but I do not know their wheel size? Is this a good fit or would it be best if I changed wheel sizes? Thanks for your help.
I think it can be done, but I personally would not do it.... I've got 265's on the stock 16x7 wheel and it pulls in the tire sidewalls pretty good. Most people get away with putting 285's on 7 " wheels, but I still think that's more then "ideal".
I think the stock F250 aluminum wheels are 7.5" wide.
A 305 tire is going to be just a tad over 12" wide, where the 265 is a tad over 10" wide..... A 285 will be close to 10.5" wide....
If I had my way, I'd have an 8" wheel for my 265's.....
Good luck!
Mitch
