Torsion Bars / 36" tires
Torsion Bars / 36" tires
My brother recently put on 36" on some boggers and had to crank up the torsion bars all the way, and take off the stepsides (97' Expo) The truck will now violently shake you out of the road, literally, at 40mph. Is this because the torsion bars or could it just be the tires? (Out of balance / truck out of alignment)? He had 22in neepers with a low profile tire and road smooth but now has terrible problems. The tire is extremely aggressive with the tread on the sides and such. Anyone know a fix w/o a suspension lift (Don't have money for that \= )
or...
D) ALL THE ABOVE!
The boggers are an extremely aggressive bias ply tire made for 95% off road use only. The SHAKE.. And I mean they shake TERRIBLY on the road, even when they are balaced perfectly.
As for cranking the torsion bars up all the way, thats another horrible idea, your cv joints are going to fail you very fast because of the high angle they are now at. The cranking of the torsion bars combined with 36" tires is putting a LOT of stress on your bro's entire front suspension.
The cheapest remedy i can think of is get a 3" body lift.. That will allow you to "uncrank" your torsion bars a little. As for the vibrating... Thats what ya get with a bogger.
