97/98 Speedo Gear Info
I searched the old posts for speedo gear info and found lots of helpful information, but also found some conflicting information.
I just changed mine for larger tires. This might help a few people.
TIRES DIA. GEAR Speedo Error
P235/70R16 29.85" Red 21-tooth ---------
LT245/75R16 30.46" Black 20-tooth -1.8%
I measured the speedo error with a GPS. When the speedo says 75mph, the GPS showed 76.4mph. It's not possible to get it any closer since the next lower speedo gear (19-tooth pink) would have 5% error.
