Question Tires on 2003 F150

I have a 2003 F150 Supercrew FX4 with the stock 265/70/17 tires and stock 17" rims. I have cranked the torsion bars to level the front with the rear. Could I fit a 315/70/17 tire on these rims without rubbing or would I need to do some trimming of the plastic? Thanks for your help.

You'll have to crank the torsion bars and trim the front bumper's lower plastic valance to fit 315/70-17 (35x12.50) tires. I've seen them on several trucks and it is a very, very tight fit.

re

i agree with wandell, i have 33x12.50 (305x70) on mine, no rubbing and i also *didnt* turn up the torsion bars but i don't know if the 315s would fit *without* some sort of lift...

I just put 315/70/17 BFGs on my 2003 Fx4 SCrew (5.4L) and I love it! It looks great!

I went ahead and installed a 3" Performance Accessories Body Lift. I did not crank the torsion bars. The tires fit pretty well and so far have not rubbed the valence. There is some slight rubing on the frame at full turn. I also added the 1715 Microtuner. There is a slight degredation in performance with the larger tires but so far not too bad. I can definitely tell a difference in braking with my bass boat behind me. I'll know more about the mileage in a tank or two.

My understanding is that the tires will fit by cranking the torsion bars and trimming the valence but I decided that a 3" body lift for $190 was worth it. A couple of friends and I put it on in 11 hours one Saturday. Read the post 315/70/17s Fit? Mileage?. It talks about this very subject and also has a link to my truck after the mods. https://www.f150online.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=152116
