Push Rod Specs incorrect?

Just replaced rotors and calipers on my '98 F-250 Light Duty, and thought I'd check the Brake Booster Push Rod to make sure it was set to the proper specs (and completely releasing brakes). I made the guage block to the exact dimensions given in the Mitchell Manual. (Width of block exactly 2.94 " with a slot in the block .986" deep, which is dead in the middle of the range allowed) Instead of the block sliding into place between the 2 master cylynder studs, it was way too wide and would need to be more like 2.85" wide to even work. Either I have an odd booster or some bad dimensions. The booster says F-250. Has anyone else run into this? Would appreciate knowing if either dimension is correct. Thanks
