Post pattern and spacing for 1998 vs. 2001

Hello,

I just wanted to know if the bolt pattern and spacing are the same for a 1998 4wd Expedition and a 2001 Expedition. Someone told me the 2001 were 14mm while the 1998 were 12mm. If anyone could help me out, I would greatly appreciate it. The reason is that someone with a 2001 would like to by my 18" rims, but we do not know if they are swappable. Thanks for the help guys.

Robert

Ford increased the stud size from 12-mm to 14-mm in/around 2000 model year. If you have to use the older model rim on the newer size stud, use a reamer (only need about 1.5-2 mm of clearencing). I did this to an extra '97 rim I had for my '00 for an extra spare. No problems! Hope this helps, Doc

If you don't know what a reamer is, you should probably have it done by a machine shop. That will make sure you don't slant the hole or do other damage to your rim...it should be fairly cheap, too. A reamer is a bit that enlarges a pre-existing hole...to do it right you should use a mill. Good luck.
