Trying to Get Some Advice
I have done a few things to my 2000 F-150, but now find myself at the point of those items that just don't look right unless you do all of the other things - wheels, tires, lowering, new front bumper, new hood, ground effects, etc.
I have a 2WD and would like to get the 2" front/ 4" back lowering kit in the future. But when I do this, I will also need to change the rims and tires. (Currently 16") My husband keeps telling me to go with 20", but I am thinking more along the lines of 18". (Cost is probably the biggest reason.)
What I am really wondering, is how much I am going to invest in this project and what will look right. I'm not interested in it dragging the ground - I am just looking for a cool, sporty look. My husband's thinking was if I am going to invest all of this money making my truck look like a Harley Davidson edition - I might as well go buy one and save myself the trouble - plus I'd have a V8 (yes, I have a V6). I got away with a purchase price of about $22000 and have spent only close to $1200 on after-market stuff - stuff I can't remove when it sells. Just wondering if I am better off going to all of the trouble or spending another $10000 on the actual truck.

I think customizing your truck is the way to go. If you got the HD it would only be "another" HD, unless of course you customize it. This is where you can start:
- Lowering it
- Getting bigger rims, 20s would be my choice but 18s look good too
- Low profile tires, not to low so you don't damage your wheels, 275/45/20 for your 20s, 295/40/18 for the 18s
- High flow air filter
- Cat-back system
- Chip
- Sound system
- Alarma system
And the list can go on as far as your wallet (purse) allows you.
------------------
2000 4.6 XLT Ext. Cab Silver
So Far
- ARE Z-series Color Matched Cap (for the Rotties...)
- Flowmaster 40 Series with Edelbrock Oval Tips
- Airaid Intake System
- Sony, Lanzar, Profile, Polk, Kenwood, 500W Sound System
- Closer to the Ground 3" front and & 5" rear
- Clear Corner Lenses
Future
- 20" Rims with 275/35/20 Tires
- Street Scene Color Matched Mirrors
- SVT Bumber Cover
- Supercharger (way down the road)

luvmytruck I know what you mean. I'm like you looking for that look. I have just bought 17" rims, wanted 18's or 20's but stayed with 17's cause I couldn't afford new tires. But now that I have the new wheels I want a lowering kit to give it a better look. All in due time I guess...

Thanks luvmytruck. Yep just the rear is lowered 2". I didn't like the stock rear being higher than the front so with the 2" rear drop it leveled things out. Good luck on your wheel shopping..
