Back end Jumping during Braking
Back end Jumping during Braking
O.K. Here is the problem. When I am slowing down my backend starts hopping between 50 and 40 mph and then stops. Anyone else experience this? I just put new Rotors on the rear two weeks ago and noticed a slight improvement but it's getting worse again. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I have the same problem. my front rotors are warped, I already replaced my rear drums, no help. took off my front tires and spun the hub. my rotors need replaced. doing that this week. if you can wait ,I'll post an update or you can e-mail me. Is the bounce there or as bad on a cold morning the first time you apply the brakes? mine isn't as bad on the first brake application , but shows up on the second or third. I' m trying rotors and pads first. then shocks.

Please explain to me how the front rotors being warped can cause the rear end to bounce.
It has to be the rear rotors warped. The axle tries to rotate back and forth due to the warped rotors and uneven braking. The springs cause the bed to go up and down as the axle rotates back and forth.
I had this problem on my 2000 F150 at about 40k. Autozone told me they could not resurface the rotors, so I bought new rotors from them. The problem went away for a short while and came back. The truck now has 80k on it and I had the first rear rotors resurfaced and I am putting them back on. ( After replacing the left side, I found to my chagrin that the axle seal on the right side is leaking grease and I have to replace the axle seal. Bummer!)

I also solved my rear end hopping last night as well. I replaced the front rotors, bearings, seals, repacked bearings, and also the front brake pads. Drove it last night and this morning, drives and breaks like a dream.
Now will the problem I had last time I changed the brake pads come back again? The griding low rumble sound from the front right with the brake pads wearing odd. We'll see!
