Post Wide Wheels

Has anyone added 16x10 wheels? Will they fit without hitting?. I would like to install 275-70-16 Generals and I'm wondering if I'll have a problem. There going on a 99 4X4. Any info will be appreciated.

Thanks, Henry.

You may want to go to 17x8 rims, and go with 275/60-17 tires. The 93-95 Lightning had this wheel tire combination. The Lightning came with Firestone GTA, but Toyo, and Bridgestone also make this size. The Firestone's are H speed rated, The Toyo's are V rated.
If you go this way the tires Overal Diamiter will be allmost exactly the same as the 225/70-16 tires my truck came with(not sure what size your truck has)This is what I am going to do this spring.

Thanks Don. What I'd like to do is go with a wider and slightly taller tire. I believe my 235-70-16 tires are ~ 29" tall. The Generals are about 31". I've noticed that not to many manufactures offer a 10" wide wheel. I'd like to go with that size but will it clear the suspension ect... A 10" wheel wouldn't bow the side walls as much.

Henry.

I belive 10 inch would be to wide for the tires.you may also pull the tires off the rims. Whatever tire you do decide to buy, will have a recomended rim size. The 276/60-17 tires have a overall diameter of 30", and the rcomended wheel size is 8". Plus with a 17" rim being a little lower profile sidewall, will make for a stiffer sidewall than a 16" rim and tire combo.
Also by going 2 inches taller your speedomiter will not read corectly, going a inch taller will not effect your speedomiter as much.
