side step,
I am also looking for a wider tire to put on my stock 16" rims. Hopefully someone replies.I was also thinking about installing the bilstein shocks, how much did they cost you and how did they change your ride?
Thanks Gino

Actually it varies by tire brand, construction and aspect ratio. Your best bet for sizing is to pick the brand of tire you're interested in and go to the manufacturer's web site. Somewhere on the site they will have a table that gives recommended rim widths for every tire they make. Dunlop, BFG, Yokohama, Pirelli and Bridgestone/Firestone/Dayton all have these tables. Haven't checked Goodyear or Michelin, but I'm sure they do too. One thing you'll quickly find out is that Ford puts narrow rims on their trucks. If you stick with 70 profile tires, 255 or 265 is the limit for 16x7 from most manufacturers, a little wider with higher aspect ratios

Hey Sidestep, If you look at BFGoodrich's web site, They say thst their 285/75/16's will fit on the 16x7's. Now I've been told they look better on 16x8's. That's what I'm planning on getting. But they will work on the stock rims. Just my $.02

Hey StrangeRanger. F-150s may have "narrow" 7 inch wide rims as standard but new Silverados - Sierras come with even narrower 6.5 inch wide rims as standard. And I think Dodges are (at least until this year, if I recall) 15 inch high rims as standard. Ford has the advantage in rims at least in basic factory rims.
