Rear drum conversion
Rear drum conversion
I have a 2000 F150 2WD with rear drum breaks. What would be required from a scrapped rear axle to convert this to disc? Also, what about the master cylinder? Would original one work or would I have to change it out? Would ABS system have to be modified?
Thanks!

You'd be better off pulling the whole axle out of a salvage vehicle than trying to convert one. That'd be the easiest way. Swap the axle (make sure to check the gear oil level in the "new" one), bleed the brakes, and viola! You're done!

Do a search under member JMC. (or mine) I asked the question a while back and he linked a website that sells a complete disc to disc, BRAND NEW, rear axle assembly for $600. That's new and less expensive than most junk yards I've checked.
