Breaker clicking when braking while backing up

Just bought an '01 Supercrew 4x2 with the 5.4. Love it!!! But have a stupid question. Have read the majority of the posts here and didn't see anything similar.

When I back into a parking spot requiring turning into it, it sounds like a breaker behind the dash near the floor is clicking every time I tap on the brake pedal. It's got a tow package, if that makes any diff.

This is just a lame question I know, but I just got it and am trying to get a grip on everything it is (is not) doing.

Sounds like it's just the brake switch, that activates the brake lights. It's mounted to the brake pedal lever and it will click the moment the pedal is pressed. I'm sure it happens all the time, not only when you're backing into parking spaces. Yeah, it's fairly noticable....

Thumbs up

Thanks AJ... When I first started to hear it, I tried tapping the pedal when just backing up straight and did not hear it. It truly is intermittent, as it is fairly noticeable the times it does do it. I'll just keep an eye on it; correction: an ear on it :-)

Great forum too. I'm obviously new to this one and look forward to many more posts in the future. Cheers

Could be the pedal switch, or it could be a noisy brake-shift interlock plunger.
