Angry Bleche White

used Wesley's Bleche White yesterday on my tires. I TOTALLY forgot about my new aluminum rims!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It got all over them and so far it has taken around five hours of rubbing with Turtle Waz rubbing compound and mothers mag and aluminum polish. the stains are starting to fade, but this is pretty bad for 1 week old rims! anyone else ever had this happen?

Yeah, I had the same trouble with an old truck. Took forever to get them shined, like you have found out. Wear gloves, and spray the bleach white on a brush or heavy duty sponge, and not directly on the tire. You can also make a template the diameter of your rims out of plywood or something. Hold the template against your rim while spraying the stuff.

I had that problem once on my last truck. Have you ever heard of Flitz metal polish? It comes in a tube like toothpaste and is pretty expensive but well worth it if you can find it. It will turn that 5 hour polish job into about a 5 minute one per wheel. That stuff is amazing. I picked some up at a local hardware store a few years back but haven't seen any around lately. All that wheel polishing is why I still have my factory rims on my new truck. The polished look is really nice, but it is also a whole lot of work.

You're not alone, I used it for several months before realizing it screwed up my wheels. The last thing I bought (besides some of the above mentioned) was an American Racing Wheel Polish kit at a local tire dealer for about $10. Wipes on/off real easy and seemed to completely change the finish. Then next time buy a cleaner that says safe for polished aluminum, there are a few

thanks.

2001!!? Wow, you should get an award for digging up the oldest post.
But to answer your question, no, do no use Bleach White on any wheel.

Use Simple Green on the tires with a scrub brush. I've been using it for years.
Westley's works well, but very harsh.
