Goodyear Wrangler ATs Snogood
Goodyear Wrangler ATs Snogood
Is it me? Or is everyone driving on Wrangler ATs notice the don't get such great traction in snow OR rain for that matter? I really have to take it easy around turns whenever its wet out. This year in the snow I was totally not Impressed. I hate to swap them out already. They only have 21k on them.
When these are gone Im going back to BFG ATs

Goodyear Wranglers, regardless of the version, are pretty bad in the snow or rain. Dump them now and buy something better.
I pulled the stock RT/S Wranglers at 450 miles on my 03. No point wasting my time with those P.O.S.....

I had the ATS on my 99 F-150 and they were fine until about 40k miles. Then, the tread got too hard despite having plenty of depth left. I replaced them with Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos which were a great tires. On my new truck, I replaced the OEM RT/S with BFG AT KO and after 10k miles wish I had gotten Revos instead.
I've had Goodyear Wrangler AT's,ATS's,RTS's and they were all pretty much junk right from new.
It really is too bad that a person has to spend so much on a new truck and then buy some good tires to replace the stock junk!!!
I will probably never buy Goodyear again, not only are they junk but pricy junk to boot!!
Hopefully my next new truck won't come with GY rubber.

I have the LT265/70R-17 OWL AT Goodyears and they have been ok in rain mud and snow. I have not had the opportunity to drive in real deep snow though. They would slip in the rain a little on some intersections but I think that may have something to do with oil on the road.

i put 50,000 miles on the stock set of 265/70R17 good year wrangler RTS's. (3 north chicago winters, winter trips to and from st louis, thanksgiving run to va. and a winter house hold move to southern or. pulling the wifes explore) the only problem i ever had was with nails and reminding the driver that if the truck will roll the tires on dry pavement, it will roast them on slicker surfaces.
never heard of a tire that will compensate for the drivers ability in all conditions. and when they come up with one i'll let the wife drive.

I used to have the Goodyear Wrangler's on my F150. After the belts shifted in one, I replaced the set with the Bridgestone Dueler AT REVO's. Worth every penny!
I'll go so far as to say the Wranglers were the worst tire I've had on either of my F150's. To put it in perspective: The Firestone Wilderness AT's were a much better tire from a traction standpint than any Wrangler I've tried.
For me, it isn't a matter of driver skill - its a matter of safety. I'd much rather have that much more margin when I need it!

I got 90,000 kms. on my stock Goodyear Wrangler AT"s. The wear was good and I thought they performed well untill I put Michelin LTX M/S's on my truck. This is the first winter with the Michelin's and they are great in the snow. They grab well and I don't have to use my four wheel drive as much. They also work well in the rain where I noticed my Goodyears would slip more. Hope this helps.
If you thought your GY AT's were bad....try a set of RT/S. This has to be the absolute worst tire ever produced. I replaced the RT/S's on both my late model trucks with BFG A/T's within the first 2k miles. There is not a better tire for our trucks in my opinion....bar none.
The RT/S's aren't even good on DRY pavement.
I wouldn't buy ANY GY tire, just because of my experiences with Wranglers. What kind of company would put such a crappy unsafe tire out on the road.....(oh yeah...forgot about Firestone! hehehe)
Nothing but BFG tires for my ride!
