Getting 9-10mpg...what's up??
Ok, i see some of you getting 280 miles on a 20 gallon tank or so...i'm getting about 250 or less on a 25 gallon tank. That's about 9-10 mpg. That's city driving of course, but i dont accelerate hard off the line, so whats the deal??? I thought we were all getting poor mileage...would gears help me out here? Thanks in advance...BTW, highway i get about 13mpg...

Oh, I imagine that the 315/75R16 Yoko. Geolander MTs have something to do with it
Mine went down a bit too when I put on the 34"s. Which reminds me, time to clean the K&N airfilter. Can always tell when it needs cleaning by my mileage.

Are you corecting for the odometer discrepancy due to the tire change? What tires did you originally have? Since I went from the 235/70s to the 265/75s my odometer shows about 9% less miles than I have actually gone. My normal 17 mpg looks like 15.5 if I don't multiply by 1.09.

Just remember Brandon that your truck sits alot taller than it used to. You're pushing alot more air than you used to. But if you didn't change the speedo gear when you switched tires thats gonna be your main problem.
I'm in the same boat.

Thanks for the help...i am adding 20% to my odo to get the 250...i'm usually getting about 210 or so (w/o odo compensation)...i'm not quite draining the tank, but close everytime...i might be able to get 265 or so...but thats not much improvement...i know the tires are big and that means higher revs to get to speed...but its really kickin my butt since gas prices started goin up...Tryin to find a way to improve mileage...wish i could get 11-12mpg...is there anyway?
Thanks again,
Brandon
Thanks again,

I too get about 11 mpg on my big truck. I have 1999 F150 with total of 9" of lift with 38" super swampers. I guess it is just the price you pay for being the big truck on the block. By the way I am new to replying on this site. I have not figured out how to attach pictures of my truck. If anyone out there could help me it would be much appreciated.

I get the exact same mileage BigBad, about 240 on a tank...I went from 235's to 33's.
I've never figured out a percentage to compensate, but I'll try. Although, I've always got about 11 mpg, even off the lot..??

Most of these posts i am reading all you guys have larger tires, lifts, and lots of toys (cool) so i think mileage should be a concern but with all the goodies its never going to be great. I have a 97 reg cab 4x 4.6 with 3.08 gears and drive 53 miles each way each day and get around 420 miles top a 24 gal. tank. Its not a real performance package but with the price of gas i stick with it until gas lowers, puls i have a 92 bird for preforming. sorry for the long wind!!

Read my post in the Engine section. I agree but I do think poor milage is the norm. Some claim great milage but I think there is something wrong with their odometer or their calculator.
BUT..........I STILL LOVE MY TRUCK..........
