Question Speedometer Change?

I have the 16 inch stock 5 star rims on my 2001 Supercrew. If I change to 17 inch rims and tires, will the speedometer still be accurate?

It will if you keep the same size of tires. The rims don't make any differnece if you keep the same tire diameter. For exapmle if you have a 265/75/16 tire and you go to 17 rims a 265/70/17 is the same size tire. If you go with bigger or smaller tires you have to get the speedo adjusted and on the 2001 I know that there isn't any speedo gear so you would have to take it to a dealer and have them reset it.

Wink

I was just about to ask this question on here! I currently have stock tires and I am moving up to 285/75/16. I'm guess I will have to have the dealer reset my speedometer.

Will these new tires still fit on my stock rims?

Thanks

I went from 16" to 20" onmy supercrew and kept the overall diameter the same and my speedometer is correct.

2dollarsteak, yes they will fit. I have them on my truck. The pic on the right is one with the new tires. Oh and btw my speedo was off by 9% going from the stock 255/70/16 tires to the 285/75/16.
