Michelin Cross Terrain Tires
Anybody have any information about the performance of these tires? Are they on par with the LTX M/S series?

I happen to have a set of Cross terrains I want to sell...if you are interested. cheap I came across a good deal on them and bought them, but I want MUD tires

It is my belief that the cross terrains are great tires. They "happened" to come around during this firestone business.
The design theory for the tires was "make a tire for an suv" Resulting in a tire that looks aggressive, still has some off road handling, but gives a smoother ride over all the truck series tires. Most suv owners want to drive it like a car, this was michelins answer.
For our trucks, I'd reccomend what I have. If you actually plan on carrying any load, the cross terrians can't take the PSI and they don't have the load ratings of the truck tires. If you're still looking for something with a smooth ride, but want to use your truck, go with a 6-ply rated tire. Still smooth, yet offers protection and can take 50 PSI.
Personally though, On the PSI issue, I have 32 in the front and 27 in the rear. I know that sounds low to a lot of people. I observed the tires starting at 50psi for all and looked at the contact patch/dirt on the tire after driving. after weeks, this was what I came to giving me full contact. No point in goung with larger tires if they're not touching the ground!

What I've done: K&N filter, Magna flow custom exaust (From where cat's join, 3"in, two 2.5" out the rear), Michelin LTX M/S 265/75/16's, MTX Thunderform custom box with two 6000 series 8" subwoofers and Mtx 120 amp.
Plans: Lund hood deflector, superchip, Poweraid, Xenon sport Flares, (custom ram-air idea?)
New: Pioneer DEH-P6300 Head unit (I definately reccomend it!)

I wanted to try the cross terrains on my Expedition but couldn't find any in 265/70/17. So I went with the Michelin LTX M/S and am VERY satisfied. So happy to have the crappy Goodyear RTS tires off and thrown in the junk pile where they belong.

The tires I have on my truck are BFG 275/60/17 with a load/speed rating of 110S. The cross terrains have the same rating. LTX series tires have load ratings comparable to the Cross Terrains and the BFG's. I would go with LTX 265/70/17's on my truck if I knew they would fit without rubbing. But since the Cross Terrains came out and are rated the same, I think I'll get them. BTW, the maximum load one of my BFG's can handle is around 2100 pounds at 35 psi (Source www.bfgoodrichtires.com). I believe the whole "SUV" thing is just a marketing ploy. If you look at most online tire companies, light trucks and SUV's are categorized together.
