wheel sizes

Hey everyone,
This is my first post so bear with me. I have a 97 f150 2wd flareside that I am wanting to lift and put bigger tires on. I do NOT want to take this off road but want to run the bigger tire for looks. So here are the questions.

Will a 15 inch wheel work on my truck or does it need to be a 16 inch or larger?

Can an 8inch wide wheel hold a 12.5 inch wide tire? (both pep boys and big o tires told me that a 15x8 wheel would hold a 33x12.5/15 tire. but I had seen on this site that some say it wont)

This is what I want to do so reply back with some honest answers if you could.

I want to put a 3 inch body lift on my truck. Then add 15x8 wheels with 33x12.5/w5tires.

Is this doable?

From: oak harbor, wa / brookings, or
do to the larger calipers on our trucks you must run at least a 16" rim, anything smaller will not give the proper clearence.

if your already going to buy new rims, why not get a 10" wide rim.

If you are going to install a 3 inch body lift you could add 305/70-16's (33x12.50-16) on a 16x8 or a 16x10. The 33's will fit on both rims. If you add a 3 inch body lift it will put you at the same height as a stock 4x4. Here's a pic of my 4x4 Screw at stock height with 285/75-16 (33x11.50) BFG's on 16x10 inch rims to give you an idea of what your truck would look like with a 3 inch lift.
