The pickup I am looking at needs some new tires on it. It has the off road package so it has the 17" rims. what is the tallest and widest size that I can run withouth lifting my truck for a while.

 

I have 285's on my 16 inch rims but could easily stuff 305's with no problems. So you should atleast be able to go to 285's on 17's. It will put your speedo off though.

Thanks guys. I do have some bad news. I was going to purchase this pickup tomorrow and I called the dealership today after school and I was going to take them my trade in. They sold the pickup!?!?!?!! I was pissed and hung up on them. I spoke for it last Thursday and told them I couldn't get it until Tuesday this week. Well it was really really fancy. It was a '98 Off Road Package, Black, chrome nerf bars, rocker panels, moon roof, leather, 6 disc cd changer, and more. So I am an upset boy tonite. And it had the 5.4 in it. I have been looking everywhere and am havin a hard time finding all this in a pickup and when I do find one the sell it right out from under me....

 

If you check with any tire shop, they should be able to check for you.
I actually work in a tire shop. I believe (off the top of my head) that the largest tire you could go with should be what you have. A 265/75/r17
