tire size on stock rim?

i just bought a 2001 Ford F150 XLT. Short wheel bas reg cab with the 5.4L with what seems to be a 2 or so inch suspension lift.

it still has the factory 17 inch wheels on it with 265/70R tires on it right now. what is the maxe width and height tire that i could pu on that rim and and not have any trouble with suspension travel or wheel scrub?

and also what is a good tire to run? i was thinking goodyear MTRs, bfgoodrich all terrains or mastercraft courser ATs. any opinions? or suggestions?

2wd or 4wd? I assume 4wd.

Some poeple have gotten 317/70R17 on the stock rims on stock 4wd suspension with a cranked front torsion bar and some plastic trimming. That would be no problem with a 2" lift. BFG AT is cheap i nthat size, but no white letters. Goodyear MTR comes in 305/70R17 I believe which would be appropriate for your truck too.

max tire size

with no lift, i was told BF Goodrich A/T KO 265.70.17 with no rubbing on inside of fender wells. raised whites with a nice beefy look to boot!

i've had these on a jeep and an explorer...nice tires, nice ride, not very noisy at all. i plan to put them on my new 2004 f-150.
