Cool

Not that I know of. When I changed to my 35" tires, I had to go from a stock 20 tooth gear to a 17 tooth gear to correct the speedo.

No. The '97 & '98 models require a different speedo gear in the tranny. The '99+ models require a "computer" adjustment.

Next time you see this person just ask him, how is it self adjusting?, because it's going to be very interesting to hear what he has to say.

When I changed my tires I changed the speedo gear.

hmmmmmmm, No way! Your mechanic should go back to school. I upgraded my tires and my speedo is 12.34% slower! I tested this with a police radar and mile markers!

Now you know why I hate going to the dealer, we appear to know more about our trucks than MOST Ford mechanics. I was told that my dealer that the trans would literally blow apart if I put bigger tires on and there was no way to adjust the speedo. What Idiots!

The trucks with the vehicle speed sensor in the differential housing are self-correcting for changes in final drive ratio, they need to be reprogrammed for changes in tie size. those with the vehicle speed sensor in the trannt tailshaft housing need a gear change for a change in either final drive ratio or tire size. This guy was a "mechanic" or maybe the lot boy?

I was told by my dealer yesterday that for 55 bucks he'd set my speedo for me and also that ford released the fix for the door crack but parts won't be in till march 1...Just wished he could tell me why my gas miliage dropped to 10mpg around town.
