Question 255's vs 235's on 3.08 rear end

I need new tires and I want to replace the 235's x 70 x 16 with 255's x 70 x16. My truck is a v6, 4.2L, 2 wheel drive, with a 3.08 ratio rear end. My question is " has anyone done this and how did the truck perform with the larger tires?

chodie1,

You shouldn't have any problem doing that. It's not that much larger of a tire, I believe only an inch or so (maybe someone else can correct me on that). I put 265/75/16's on when I got sick of how small my 235/70/16's were. The truck slowed down a little but it still is fine. I have a 5spd also so I think that helped out. Even though you have a 4.2 and I have 4.6 I still think you would barely notice the difference in performance. Hope this helps...
