Question Large rims and ride quality?

Since no one seems to read the other W&T forum I'll post this here again. I've heard, more than once, that big rims (18"+) don't ride very well. I guess it makes sense that less rubber between you and the road would mean a stiffer ride. Anyone with large wheels notice a significant amount of change in ride quality after making the switch? I'm thinking of getting some new rims but would like some opinions about riding on 18"- 22" wheels before I make my decision. It's alot of scratch to put down on something that may annoy me in the long run!

You will definetly experience a stiffer ride with the larger rims. I think they look great on the lower(ed) trucks but the ride is the trade-off.

Larger wheels?

I have a reg. cab f150 and I upgraded to 20" wheels with 45 series tires. I put them on before I lowered the truck and didnt notice a significant change in ride quality. I later lowered the truck and both of those mods together did produce a significant change in the ride. I personally think it still rides decent but much firmer and less body roll, ie more stability which I like. On the other hand, some family members that drive it now and then have commented on the harsh ride. I guess the bottom line is what are you priorites. If its purely comfort, then maybe stock is better for you. If you can compromise, then maybe then aftermarket wheels will be fine. Just my opinion, hope it helps you out! Later JR
