Thumbs down $180.00 front end alignment????

This is wrong...

Ive got 34,000 miles on my F-150, time for new tires.

The guy tells me your first front end alingment will cost me
$180.00 instead of the regular price of $49.00.

When asked why so much he told me the truck comes from the factory with fixed alignment parts and will have to be replaced
with adjustable parts, the reason for the first one so expensive

Is there any truth to this , has anyone else had this high price slammed on them...

Need some feedback... Thanks Tom

I'm not trying to justify the price but .................... you will need to install some camber adjustment bolts to do the alignment properly. So he is telling the truth about that anyway.

Good luck.

He is definitely telling you the truth. Make sure you get a good front end shop to work on yours.

I've been having problems with my for months now, ever since the dealership screwed it up.

For me, its still a WIP, however I found a good mechanic/shop, so I know it will be fixed correctly soon.

Yup thats right.....bought mine new and it would almost u turn by itself, that dealer was going to fix that and didnt do it right so tried another dealer picked it up and the steering wheel was about 45 degrees from center.....so even worse than before, only reason dealer was doing it was warranty.......after those 2 times I took it to the people that I buy my tires from and they said the first time (they change something or punch out something) is more expensive but follow up alignments are regular price . I paid a little over 100.00

Yo leapfrog,

Is your steering wheel "centered" now?

The upper control arm bolts have to be replaced with cam bolts.
Check http://www.findarticles.com/cf_dls/m.../article.jhtml

These bolts cost no more than $50.00 for the kit to fix your truck. Time to install is no longet than ½ hour. So $50.00 + $49.00 + install time + taxes it what you are paying for.

Check this site. Click on Ford 4x4 and find the F-150. Then click on front camber.
