Daven- its a nude beach but its not a very recommended one! Unless you like to sunbathe nude, don't expect to find many pretty ladies, or ladies at all there! It's mostly old farts or hideous ladies, of course, its a nice place to wheel cause no one will stop you, although there isn't a lot to do but tear up sand...

Hey BigBadRedLiftedFordMan,
I don't know if you've already taken pics of your truck with the 35's on it, and posted the link somewhere, but if you have, please post it again, if not, get some pics taken my man, from the one pic with the 35's your truck looks awesome, and I want to see some more! And let me say it again, great looking truck, I think I'm sold on doing the 35's for now...16x10 Atlases are on the way, was going to wait to add the susp lift, but I'm definitely leaning toward the 315's first.

Actually, i've already taken pics but they haven't been developed yet. I finished the last roll at the beach, but I can take some more and finish this new roll and have the pics to ya by nxt week, hopefully sooner. But as far as I'm concerned, i love the truck, not too tall, but tall enough so everyone says, "Thats a big truck". The tires really set it off to. Just have to try em offroad- maybe this weekend.

BigBadRed,
First of all, you did a great job on the truck! It looks awesome. Just curious, how exactly do you get to that beach? I'm looking for a little sand to try out my tires. Do alot of people go there?(to off-road) Thanks in advance.

There are 3 ways to get to High Island (aka Crystal Beach), which is where i wheel the most.Cars are allowed on Crystal Beach, and during the winter its not usually a problem, but if you get caught doin anything like "spinning your tires", climbing dunes, or donuts or anything like that and the beach police catch ya, then you can get fined. The best place i like to go is the nude beach because the cops don't go there and its closer. The long way to high island it take 225 to 146. Take 146 towards Baytown, and stay on it until you hit I10. Take a right on I10 so you are heading towards beaumont. Stay on I10 til you see the Winnie exit which will be about 25-35 miles/minutes since you turned onto I10. After you exit, go up to the light and take a right. Stay on this road for a good 30 minutes, you'll pass a sonic and a couple lights and then its all straight away. You'll go over the Intercoastal Waterway and go through a very very small town called high island. After your through High Island, you'll notice that the road curves to the right and there are numerous signs that say you cannot turn left, lots of orange barriers and stuff. Go left. This road was washed out by Alicia in 83 but is never patrolled, and i mean NEVER (thats why the nudes go there!) Manuever around the barrels (you don't even have to go off the road) and your there, the straightaway goes on for miles and miles and miles. The terrain gets a little bumpy, buts its not too bad. I'll be right back with the short directions...

Buckster, and others, take I-10 east out of Houston toward Beaumont. Exit at Winnie and go right like you are going toward High Island and on to the Galveston Ferry. Just the other side of High Island it will deadend. Go left, around the baricades. The pavement comes and goes but after about a mile you may find it better to just drive on the beach. The nude beach is about three miles down. Or so I'm told.<G> You'll know it when you get there. BigBadRed is partially right but I have it on very good authority that there is some excellent scenery there on warm weekends. Course if I were to go, I would take a good book and a cooler of beer and enjoy the sun. (okay, maybe a few of the sights!)

Looks like BigBadRed and i were sending directions at the very same time. From Deer Park I recommend I-10 to Winnie route. It would be the shortest. The ONLY other way is go to Galveston, take the ferry over to Bolivar then you still have about 30 miles to drive plus the line at the Ferry. The Winnie route may be longer but I find it much quicker.

The other 2 ways to high island/nude beach are
1) like kenster said take 610 til Galveston exit (go to galveston), get on ferry, follow the road that the ferry exits onto until it dead-ends at the barriers (about 20 min from ferry to nude beach).
2) the fastest way, and the way i go is to get on I10 just like you were going to go through winnie. While on I10, be watching your right side, after approx. 20 miles/minutes (since you turned on I10)you will see a Ford Dealership. Once you pass the dealership begin looking for the Exxon station which will also be on your right. Its not a chevron or diamond shamrock, its an EXXON (many people mistake the exit because they get the wrong gas station). Take the exit with the Exxon. Turn right onto the farm road. Follow the farm road for 20 minutes. You'll see one stop sign on the way. the road will dead end or fork(its kinda a dead end but no stop signs). Take a left towards the Anahuac Wildlife Refuge. You'll pass up the refuge and go another good 10-15 minutes. Eventually this road will dead end into the same road you wouldve been on, had you turned at winnie. NOTE TO SELF: slow down once you get off the farm roads as cops become frequent! Take a right and stay on that road, go over intercoastal waterway bridge, through high island, and go to the barriers which will again, be on your left. I can make it to nude beach in about 50 minutes from baytown this way. The only reason it is faster is not because it is shorter but because its rural farmroad with very very few cops, i usually go 90+ down these (I10 & winnie are heavily partolled). If your unfamiliar with the area, you may want to write down road #s since the way back has no dead ends and is harder to navigate. hope this helps. if you need better directions, i can get road #s and junk from my friends who lives down there. let me know.
