i have a 2001 f-150 4x2 5.4l 3.55 gear ratio, i have 3" spindles and im running 33" tires, but i wanna put on the 6.5 fabtech lift and put on 35 inch tires on, i went down the local shop and they said gears are a must , so they said 4.56 gear ratio, i dont know anything about gears, is that gonna put my truck close to stock, and what about my engine hows it gonna handle the new gears, with the tires i have on there now 33" i noticed the difference , but with 35" and new gears , how about my gas is it gonna be worse with new tires and gears , PLZ HELP. Cool

I have a 2000 Espy 5.4 with 4.56 gears. I would highly recommend Reider Racing gears (Precision Gear brand), your should have a 9 3/4" rear axle since you have the 5.4 and Reider is definitely the most knowlegeable about speed/tach changes. I have bought several sets of these gears and they always come with ALL the required items for the installation. My machine runs 75mph at around 2750 and I lost a couple of mpg but the new feel is totally worth it. I have 315/75-16 tires on, they are 34.7" dia.

Congrats on an incredibly super Orange bowl game. What a defensive struggle, I'm an OU grad from 1989 and that game may be the hardest fought game I've ever seen.

Good luck on your truck!

Thumbs up

I am going with 4.56's as well and I got a good quote from Reider Racing.
