CaliberS?
CaliberS?
when im driving and begin to brake bout 80% or a bit more of the time i get a ugly vibration from the brakes
let me see how can i explain this?
my dad thinks its that the calibers arent hitting or something
my friend thinks its the calibers also
i forgot what they said in real detail
but it happens when im driving slow and when i drive fast, i think if i brake very slowly it wont happen but what could it be?
its like its shaking the wheel when i press on the brake, my dad thinks i should take off the calibers and spray dw40 or something on something he said but im not to sure what he meant
does ne one understand this? im sorry so vague of a description but when u all reply ill be better prepared
btw its a 97 f150 2wd

re:calibers
It sound to me like you have warped rotors. My truck has the very same symptoms at 105,000 miles and I need to change mine. You can have your rotors turned usually for less than $15/each if they are thick enough still if not you can buy aftermarked replacement for as cheap as $25. I just posted a question about the spindle nut size that you will need to get off to change or resurface your rotors. Good luck.
You have a warped rotor ( or rotors). Not too uncommon of a problem. Better than half of the time you can turn them and solve the problem. New rotors will really fix it if you want to go that route. Your spindle nut does not need any special tool. Remove the cotter pin, retaining washer and the nut will turn with channel locks. The hardest part is getting the caliper mounting bolts broken loose ( factory uses lock-tite) remember not to hang your calipers from the brake lines as this can damage them internally and cause other problems.
