How are your 315/70-17's working??
How are your 315/70-17's working??
Ok, I know this topis has been done to death... I am thinking of buying these for my 03 Screw FX4, on the stock rims (7.5) I know the downsides of using the stock rim, ect.... I would like to know the opinion of those who have put this size of tire on their trucks.
Satisfied with them, rubbing issues, gas milage, tire wear, ect...
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Post pics if you got em!!
Thanks!!!!

I'm sure they'll rub on a stock truck, just don't know how bad.
My gas mileage hasn't suffered but I drive very moderately, probably 60% highway miles. Anywhere between 13-14 now, it was at 15 stock. Also keep in mind I've got the Microtuner, which may be helping me also.
If you go to 315s I suggest you regear. I didn't think I would but if you want long-term reliability of your trans it would help if you gave it some smaller gears to turn in the differentials. I'm thinking 4.10s but 4.56s is also a possibility.
Good luck!

From what I have read, they will not rub. (minor cutting on bumper plastic). I have a 5.4 with 3.73's, the difference to 4.10's is minimal. Gearing is not a problem, I have plenty of power. I live up in Northern Montana, and a few inches more of clearance would greatly help!! I have ruled out a 4 inch suspension lift (due to the fact that the truck would no longer fit in my garage). And I cant overlook the cost difference between 315's and 305's. I can get the BFG KO's for $133.00 each. I work in a shop, so mounting, ballancing and alignment are not an issue. The cheapest I could find 305's (MTR's) were 200 each. Back to the gearing.... I have a 01 Sport Trac (I know, totally different) but anyway, it has the upgraded 4.10, I have a friend that has the normal Sport Trac (3.73's) and I cant notice any difference, rpm at 70 were virtually exact. I have also driven MANY newer Fords with both the 3.55 and 3.73, and I do not notice any difference. With that said, I know I would notice a difference with my truck, seeing how I drive it daily, but its not like im racing a 4 dr pickup around. Its a truck, and thats how I drive it. I know many here have used the same setup that I am going to do, just want to know their opinion on how its worked out, over the long run.
My new tires will be installed next Friday, and I guess if they rub, then my truck will get a 4' Rancho suspension lift, and it will be doomed to sit outside the garage, or..........I can give my garage a "lift" too.... So if anyone has the 315's on a stock rim and stock truck, please shout out your opinion, I only have one week to change my mind...
