Question BF285s on 04' FX4?

hey,
I am a new member to this site, but a long time F-150 owner (80', 89', 98') and fan of f150online. Maybe someone has some insight for me on this... I am ordering an 04' FX4 and was hoping to replace the stock Goodyear tires w/ BF Goodrich 285 65 R18 TA KO tires. I did some research and BF is making this size!http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/bfgap.../11052002C.jsp
Has anyone done this with their truck? If so, any chance of getting credit for the Wranglers to offset the cost if i swap as soon as i get the truck? Also, any rubbing or other problems associated with the larger tire? What has to be done to adjust the spedometer.
Thanks!

I cannot recall anyone having them installed yet. I remember reading a post about someone ordering them, but not installed yet, or at least wih pictures. I have seen pictures of 285/70R17 on the standard 17" FX4 rims and it looked good.

Check out the 2004 F-150 section. A couple of members have mouted the 285/70-17 and 285/65-18 BFG's on their stock 04 F-150's without any problems.

Here's a pic of an 04 4x4 with the Daystar 2.5 inch coil spring spacers on the front and 285/65-18 BFG AT KO's.

Hey...that's my truck in that link. Don't count on a trade in on the wranglers...there isn't a market for the 18" tires right now...my dealer wouldn't even consider it.
After the daystar lift...there is 1.75" of clearance on the BFG 285's at their closest point on the front and 1.25" room from the shock on the rear...truck seems so much bigger now.

Cool

thanks for the feedback. the 285s look great bmc! the trade-in is pretty sweet too. did you have the speedometer adjusted? you can't beat the BF ATKOs, for performance and appearance...should be a factory option. i kinda figured i'll have to eat the the odd size wranglers anyway, which sucks with a brand new truck. i'll have to see what i want to buy myself for x-mas this year. i have some time to think, delivery on the new one looks like mid-december....can't wait.
