Post 285/75R16s on stock rims

How many people have the 285/75R16s on your stock rims? Any problems? Opinions? I'm about to replace my 255/70R16 POS Goodyears that came with my truck. Thanks.

I have a 99 4x4 and put the same tires on the stock rims. Have about 4000 miles on them. No rubbing. Looks great, I think.

JohnD-
Do you know how wide your 4X4 rims are? I have the 98 XLT rims and I think they are 8.5 inches wide. Width was my main concern. Can anyone tell me if my measurements are correct? Thanks.

Ran 285/75 BFGs on the stock rims of the Expedition for over a year. Even did some off-roading with the tires aired-down. No problems.

Then ran 16x8 aftermarket rims for just over a year. The extra width made the tires look even wider. No problems.

Now have over 3000 miles on the Expedition with the tires on the OEM wheels off my 2000 F150 (2WD). No problems yet.

All the 16" rims are 7" wide.

Thanks guys. I was obviously off on my measurements. I measured through the rim from end to end so I guess that's why I was wrong. 16x7 makes sense.

I am going to try the 285s on my stock rims and maybe later I can get new ones, I just don't have the cash to do them both at the same time.

54regcab-
Until last week I would say no, but I think I saw a stock height 4X2 with 285s, crazy. Anyway, I have a 3" lift so I will be fine.
