Lightbulb What brand of wheels to you like?

We have all seen and responded to the threads concerning Wheels/tires size combos. It is also clear that many have strong opinions on the style of wheels that go well with out trucks. I am interested in opinions about the different brands of wheels. I, for example, am partial to the style represented by American Racing Baja, Eagle 589's, and Mickey Thompson classic. However, I have no experience with these brands and how they wear/hold up. How about some opinions?

ccla,
I have the same truck as you do(Red 1998 F150 STX Reg Cab) and I wanted to lift my truck. I wanted to know how you like it, how it drives and how it handles off road. Also I saw in your signature that your truck has 3.55 gears, are they LS or regular axle I have the regular axle and was concerned about rear wheel spin.If you do not mind I wanted to know what you paid for the lift, wheels and tires. Also how long did it take for the install.

Thanks

I like Crager Super Sports, a chrome spoked wheel, but they don't make them that will work on my truck.

I have Centerline Starfires, a chrome spoked wheel. They are a good substitute for the Cragers, but the chrome job is adequate at best. I will go else where for my next set of wheels.

....MHZ, Here's what I paid
* Spindle Lift - $630.00 With Blocks
* Body Lift - $130.00
* Coil Spacers - $14.00
* More Blocks Rear - $30.00
* Rims & Tires - $1244.00

The Spindle Lift took Like 4-5 Hours to do.
The Body Lift took A Weekend. Cause we ran into clearence problems with the 35's. Thus the coil spacers and more blocks

It rides a little rougher now. But that may have something to do with the fact that my shocks are fully extended when I'm sitting still now.

XLTJAKE,
interesting topic.
I am had a set of American Racing directionals and although the quality of the wheel was good(spins true) the clear finish was not so good.
A buddy of mine has a set of Centerline Hellcats on his Jeep with 35-12.5-15 BFG Mud Terrains and this set up looks bitchin.With out a doubt the best tire/wheel combo going.
Just my 2 cents.

That's the kind of info I am after. All these wheels should look great out of the box, but what about after a season or two, how do the finishes hold up?

I have Centerline Saber rims with 275/60hr-17 tires.They make my truck handle much better, and the ride is much smoother.
I looked at the M/T rims, they are nice but pricy, and there customer service is terrible.The Centerlines were priced better, and there customer service is much better.
I see you are from the Boston area, I live in Waltham. Now that spring is here I think we should have a Massachusets get together.

DonC I am from Boston also,I used to work for Wheaton Electric in Waltham for about 4 years, you might have seen my Black lightning driving around Waltham last summer.Great truck but I had to get rid of it a little to impracticle driving to construction sites throughout Boston plus the winters, Traded it for the truck I have now which is another great truck but another slight problem.I work all over Boston and sometimes have to park in garages with a 6'6" clearance.The truck is about 6'4" factory.I would like to upgrade tires to bigger but I really can't get much taller any ideas?

Just like CCLA I have the American Racing Baja wheels, and they are great. Look really good on a 4x4, or a lifted 4x2 for that matter Good luck.

I have the Centerline HTII Polished Aluminum rims, currently greased up with lots of moly to protect them from the winter. I had a set of Ultra 5 Stars on my S-10, and in less than six months they were rusted and pitted terribly. NO customer service, total waste of time. Avoid these rims like the plague!!
Once again, just my opinion, loosely based on actual events.
