You can get L wheels at a few places.
There is a set in the classified section here at f150online. I think they were 450.00 + s/h.
1997 to 2002 ( maybe 2003 ?? ) have a 5 x 135mm lug pattern.
pre 29-NOV-99 build dates have 12mm lugs, post 29-NOV-99 have 14 mm lugs ( yes mid MY 2000 change, nice huh ? )

The modifications :
- You might want to get new lug nuts, as the stock black ones won't look too good hanging out in the open ( if you still have the stockers on there ). If you go with the stock Ford Racing lug nuts they are the p/n M-1012-C ( 5 ). So if you went this route, your would order qty 4 for 4 packs of 5 lug nuts each. These are for Ford lugs, with Chrome caps on them.

- Next is to replace the stock steering stops with the ones designed for the deeper back spacing ( L wheels are 5.80" back spacing ). These are the Ford Racing part number : M-1010-L. You use an ingle grinder to remove the back on the stock steering stops on the A frame, pound out the steering stop with a center punch and bolt the new ones on. Took me about 1 hour give or take to do them on jack stands. Having the truck on a lift would have make it much easier.

The other thing you need to decide is which L wheels you want.
There is a design for the 1997 to 1999 series, there is one for 2000, one for 2001, and another for 2002 / and I think 03. That might not be the exact years, but you get the idea that there is more then one design of Wheel for the L by the text.
Check out www.oemfordparts.com for pictures of the wheels, to decide which ones you were eye balling, unless you know for sure which year they were on.

The prices have come down quite a bit in the past 18 months on these wheels, the 2000 MY L Wheels are now 155.00 each in silver, $ 275 in Chrome. Oh that is another thing, got to figure out aside from which design, did you want them in Silver or in Chrome, as some come both ways.

So while it is not an easy answer, the only open consideration is which L wheels, and if you are going stock Ford Racing lugs, or after market like Gorllia lugs / locks.

Good luck, let us know if you have any other questions

The 2003 Lightnings were also 5x135mm. I think even the 2004 Lightnings will be the 5x135mm pattern. Last I heard it was going to be 2005 when the new body style is introduced that will have the 6x135mm pattern.
