Post 17IN TIRES

I have the sport package on a 99 F150 XLT and it has 17in tires. The door sticker says the tire pressure should be 26psi in the front and 30psi in the rear. This sounds to low. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

That sounds odd to me also. Most tire pressures are 35 p.s.i. or higher. Also why the different p.s.i. recommendation from front to rear I wonder? Check the tire sidewall for the max cold p.s.i.

This is what I got after e-mailing Goodyear three times with a similar question. I'm not sure where he got the "Yes. It just takes more air to reach 29 psi in this tire, but the psi doesn't change" dah! Other than that, he does present a good point about too much air.

I found your last fax, from yesterday. Sorry I'm just getting around to
answering. To respond to your question, if you have the oversized tires, will
29 & 32 be enough for the 305/70R16 Wrangler? Yes. It just takes more air to
reach 29 psi in this tire, but the psi doesn't change. If you feel
uncomfortable, you may add up to 4 lbs more per tire. If you add too much air,
the contact patch will become smaller and you'll get excessive centerwear. I
would suggest you closely monitor the wear. If you see anything unusual,
perhaps a visit to your local Gdyr dealer would be in order. Hope this has
helped you. And we do appreciate your visiting our website, three time. My
apologies.
