Breaking Loose the Caliper Bolts
Breaking Loose the Caliper Bolts
Hi all. After searching through the posts I am relatively confident I can replace the front wheel beaing/hub myself on my '97 F150 4x4. (Growlly noise from the right front wheel).
Since one of the local parts store wanted $310 for the bearing/hub, I thought I would take a look inside first. To my surprise I had no trouble loosening the spindle nut, but for the life of me I couldn't budge the 18mm bolts holding the calipers on. PB Blaster and all. I'll try again tonight with a bigger set of breakover bars and 6 point sockets. But does anyone have any tips? heat?
I've done lots of front pad jobs, but this will be the first time the caliper has been pulled on this truck with 76,000 miles - the pads are still good!
The 15mm hub mount bolts may be an issue too..........
