285/75-16 on my Stock 01 F150 XLT

Does anyone know if I can run 285/75-16's tires on my 01 plain Jane F150 XLT. It came with 255/70-16's. I'm told they will fit the rims but I don't know about haveing to lift the body for them. I really don't want to lift it.

Tires

You would be going from a tire w/diameter of: 30.1" to a tire w/diameter of 32.8". I just put 265R70X16s on mine & there is plenty of room. Ofcourse mine are about 2" smaller diameter than the 285's. Still I would think they should fit. By the way, your speedometer would be off by 9.2%. Hope this help, good luck!

TP,
If you're in a two wheel drive I wouldn't go bigger than a 265/75-16. That's what I had on my 98 2WD effie. However, on my 4X4 Screw I have 285/75-16s with no problem. In fact, if I had wider rims I would go bigger. Check out my gallery and you'll see that 285/75-16s are no prblem. Good luck!

Yeah, they fit my 97 4x4 no problem, too.
