strong smell

A few days ago I put new pads/rotors on my 97 Expy. I used CarQuest parts. No problems for 3 days then had to take the brakes off pass side to change a broken stud. Now I occassionally get a strong smell that smells like burnt clutch. That side isn't dragging at all. Wheel on passenger side doesn't seem any hotter than the driver's side when I check it. Any ideas?

I'm assuming that this is up front...when you put on the new pads did you clean the caliper bolts then regrease them and install new dust boots?...If not you may have a caliper bidding in travel and its causing the pad to sit a little harder on one side...If the smell is Sulfur like and it,s coming from the rear thats a rear outside seal on the differential leaking...that will happen from cleaning the brakes with the brake cleaner and that dried the seal out...good luck

Yes. It is the front passenger side. I cleaned the pins and lubed them. Put grease on the new tension brackets. Didn't use new boots on the pins. They looked good.
I think I'll take it apart it again to give it a quick look.Thanks.
