Need help with tire and wheel size!!!!

I have just purchased a 2000 F150 4x4 Lariat. It has the factory tear drop 17" wheels and 265/70/17s on it. I am looking at Eagle's wheel style 102 w/ the smooth lug nut covers. In 17s they are only available in 17x9s or I could drop down to 16s and get 8s or 10s. I was considering the 17x9s with a set of the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos in the stock 265/70/17. Has anyone put this size tire on a 9 in. wheel. Also, if I go with the 16s, what size tire should I go with. A 285/75/16 or the 305/70/16s. I look forward to hearing from you.

My gut feel is that a 17x9 wheel may be too wide for the 265s, because if I remember right I think those tires are only 10 or so inches wide. I would probably recommend the 16x8 in the 285 size, although I don't like dropping wheel size.

On another note, I don't know what style the Eagle 102's are but I've got a set of 17x7.5 FX4 wheels that would certainly work well with those tires, if you're interested

You know I have been considering the FX4 wheels or the chrome Lariat wheels. Either set would look better than the tear drop wheels. E-mail me at dselby@hydecounty.net with a price on the wheels and a rough estimate of shipping to zip 27824 in N.C.

Can do...I can't get the wheels off the tires until tomorrow, but I can send that info to you later this week. Hopefully we'll be able to work something out -

Are the tires any good. If so how much tread is left on them and figure them in also.

Tires are good - they are the Goodyear RT/S, 265/70/17. Wheels and tires have about 9000 miles on them, rotated at 5k. I'll see what I can do -

I my self would go with a 285 wide tire on a 17x9 rim. The 265 will work but will look to narrow. Also if you can afford it i myself would go with 17in over the 16in. They will look much better and you should be happy with them.
