tires

I was at the tire shop the other day getting a flat fixed and I was asking the owner about the brown stain I have from using mequires high endurance tire shine and he said to wash the tires with varsol, has anyone heard of this and is there a possibility it may damage the tires?

I use that "Bleach White" stuff and a scrub brush for my RWL tires. It has all kinds of warnings on it like "don't get any on your skin", "don't inhale", "don't use on polished alum wheels", etc....... Been using it for years and as long as you keep it off of the wheels and off of yourself and don't breath too hard while appying, seems fine...... Use pleanty of water to wash it off and then top it off with your favorite tire shine stuff and make the tire like new. My tires have over 45k on them and the sidewalls are fine. (treads down to about 50%, but I'm impressed with that too!)
