16x10 rims but what backspace do I need??

I have a std cab 4x4 (Offroad Package if it matters).

I am looking at the 16x10 weld stonecrushers but they guy I am dealing with wants to know about the backspacing. he says my choices are 3-5/8” or 4-5/8”. I have no clue. the truck isnt lifted yet but I plan on no more than 4". The truck is already a little higher than a standard 4x4 from what I understand. Please correct me If I am wrong though.
I am only shopping for the rims now because I can get a good deal on them. I know tire width matters so I would say a about a 35" x 12" tire under it.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

to answer your question you may want to know what type of lift you are going to be using as some lifts won't allow the use of backspacing higher than X. Personally I would go with the 3 5/8" cuz it will push the tire out more. On a side note, if you are not going to wider than 12.5 why not use a 16X8 rim. It will give you a little more protection for the rim if you hit something due to the bigger bulge in the sidewall.

I have been trying without luck to find out what the backspacing on the Lightning wheels are.

These are 18x9.5 wheels, and require a wheel stop so you don't clean the inside lip of the rim on the lower arm or the bolt for the brake line. The L wheel stops are M-1010L and are installed in place of the pressed in wheel stops that are on normal F-150s.

I don't just want to 'eye-ball' the back space for your question. If they can get actual specs on L wheels, that would give you an idea of what the backspace *could* be lift requirements aside. They appear to be 3-5/8" backspace, but please DO NOT use that as you selection that is a straight up eye ball with a stick ruler, very un specific at best, and assumes that I measured back space correctly ( like I even know how to for sure ).

Hope this gets you some where with him.

Sorry, maybe someone else that has the wheels you are looking at can provide more accurate info.

Good luck

Most of the aftermarket 16x10 inch rims, like Eagle, American Racing, Mickey Thompson, etc have either 4 1/2 inches or 4 5/8 inches of backspacing, which is virtually identical. Weld is the only manufacturer I know of that offers a 16x10, 5on 135mm pattern rim with less than that. My Eagle Alloys have 4 1/2 inches of backspacing. You can look in my gallary for pics of how it looks. You have probably been looking at trucks with 16x10's and 4 1/2 or 4 5/8 inches of backspacing because that is what 99% of 16x10's have.

Couldnt find your photos Wandell. I'll keep looking though.

I have been looking at alot of trucks with the 16x10's on them acutally. I think I will stick to the one that sticks out the least. I want them under my truck not to the sides. I know it is only an inch but I'm sure it is noticeable.

Here is a couple of the trucks I keep going back to:

Thanks for the info.

Sorry but I don't have a link to any photos. For some reason every time I try to post them in my photo gallery on here they show up as a broken link and don't display the pics. BTW if you are looking at rims and tires that are not going to stuck out a lot then I would reccommend that you go with 16X8's instead of 16X10's. You can still run a 12.5" wide tire on those rims and have not problem.

Sounds like you need the 4 5/8 BS on the 16x10. They will come right out to the wheel well. The 16x8 with 4 4/58 BS will still be tucked in the wheel well. I have 18x10 Weld wheels with 4.5 BS in my gallery if you want to take a look to see how they come out. They look like they stick out further than they do because of the lift. But when you look from behind, they come right out to the edge of the wheel well.

Plus, I think the 10" wide looks better than the 8" wide. If you want to run the 8's, than I would go with the 3 5/8 BS to get a deeper look to the wheel.

I have a 4" Procomp Suspension Lift on my 98 F-150 with 35x12.50x16 TSL SSRs on 16x10 Eagle 102s and they have 4 1/2" backspacing. https://www.f150online.com/galleries....cfm?gnum=2868
