How Much Did My Speedo Change?

I switched my tires on my 99 extendedcab flareside 4x4 to a 315/70/17 and I'm wondering if my speedo reading has gone up or down because of the larger tire?
By the way, they are BFG AT's and they are far better than the Wrangler AT/S I had before.

Your speedo reads slow now. Can't tell you how much cause we gotta know what tire size you started with.

My original tires were 265/70/17's.
Thanks for your reply. At least I'm sure it's not gonna read too fast.

Your speedo is 8.02% low, you will run 121RPM slower at the same mph. Rearend gearing dropped a ratio of 0.28 (i.e 3.55 is now 3.27)

Sledman,

Are you running those new BFG's without any lift? I've been looking at those tires too but I was thinking I would need a 4" suspension + 2" body lift. I do want to run 17x10's so that's part of the reason, but I'll still be amazed if you have no lift. Thanks,

Mike

35s will fit any 97+ 4x4 with only 3" of lift. 6" is almost enough to clear 37s.

They fit fine on my bone stock truck with no lift at all.I had to trim about 3"x3" triangle of plastic off the front corner of each side of the front wheelwell, and because my truck has the molded mudflaps I had to trim a bit there too.About 20 minutes and it was all done.I'd enclose a pic but it's raining tonight.Tomorrow I'll try and get a shot for you.

One question for you, does your tire contact your frame at full lock? I have 35" mudders on my truck and I rub slightly at full lock. THe ATs you have may just be thin enough to not rub. Just curious. I have a 3" body lift btw but the frame stays at the same location (thus the nature of a body lift, lol).

btw, your truck looks great with those tires. Excellent choice in keeping the stock rims

They only rub on the drivers side at the lock.I read in another post here(maybe by you)that if you lay a bead of weld on the steering stopper block it will allow you a bit of extra clearance.Think I will try it.I don't have a problem like is is but if the woman drives it she might make em rub
